Vets News 1st December 2024
Some news about the website, information about a new Trophy for 2025, and news about the competition played during last week:
Captain's Choice Rumble
This week we played a re-arranged competition for the Captain's Choice Rumble over 15 holes. This year's format was a mix of 3 different events in one - a Texas Pairs Scramble for the first 5 holes, Greensomes for the next 5 holes, finishing with a Foursomes for the last 5 holes. Some very good scores were recorded, with the Results and Captain's Report now being available to view on the website on the 2024 Competition Results Page.
Website News
A quick tip - if you use a mobile, press the Vets Logo in the top left hand side to get back to the home page, and press the 3-bars (hamburger bar) on the top right to view the menus. On a desktop, selecting the Vets Logo also works to get back to the home page.
Some of the pages have now been refreshed, and re-scripted to give a more aesthetic and appealing effect (hopefully) to the viewers.
Pages updated (and will continue to evolve and provide fuller detail with more back-end data) are available on the home page list of useful links, and more details are shown here:
Trophy List - this page outlines all our trophies, with a photo of the trophy as well as a description of the event. Just select from the dropdown list to view details.
Winners Search - to view if you (or someone you know) has won a trophy, just start typing a name in the "Enter Name Here" box on the page to see which trophies they have won.
Trophy Winners - to view who has won the different trophies, medals and stableford competitions over the years (data still being populated from historical information gathered). Just select a Trophy, Medal or Stableford event from the dropdown list to view the complete current and historical data of Winners, 2nd and 3rd places for Competitions and Stableford events, and Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal Winners for Monthly Medals and Stableford events. Further data is being added, so come back and view this page often to see some of the previous winners of our different competitions.
The Heath Bowl
As you may gather from the Trophy name, I have presented a new Trophy (which can be viewed in the Trophy List page) to the Vets Section. This is in addition to the already presented trophies including the Ajay Jug presented by Competition Secretary Alan Jerome, the Spratty Shield presented by current Vets Captain Richard Spratt, and the Vets Masters Trophy presented by previous Captain Keith Vaughan Williams. The Heath Bowl will be played at the same time as the Vets Masters Trophy, with entrants from all competitions in the previous year who have been placed 2nd and 3rd in those events. It will include most competitions, and all monthly medals and stableford events. All eligible players will be invited to enter the Heath Bowl. If a Player already has a place in the Masters Trophy, they cannot play in the Heath Bowl. Combining the Heath Bowl entrants with the Masters entrants will provide a full field of competitors during the day for both competitions. The inaugural Heath Bowl event will be played on 16th September 2025.
Lastly, work is ongoing to re-design some of the pages on the website, so, if you find something not working as expected, or have any comments to make for a better viewing, please let me know - contact me on martyn.heath@btinternet.com
