Captain's Weekly Update 12th July 2022

Fellow Vets

I hope you're all enjoying the extraordinary weather!

My report on Tuesday's Veterans Trophy competition will shortly be available to view via our website here ->

I do need to make a few points concerning that competition:- when competing in ANY event you MUST sign in prior to starting your round, you MUST sign your card and have it countersigned by your marker before submission and you MUST return your card to the scorer either via the card box or in person. Failure to adhere to any of these basic requirements will result in your being disqualified from the competition. Neither Alan Jerome or myself want this to happen to you but it will be enforced.

We played our return Vets Friendly away at Parkwood GC yesterday but went down 4 to 1 as they exacted their revenge for our 4 - 2 home win earlier this year. Honours even overall then.

Our Vets League team played Langley Park GC at Cherry Lodge today and managed a 4 to 2 victory against a strong and until today, unbeaten side. Great work by Dennis and the league team - well done!

Alan Jerome, our Competition Secretary will be making an important announcement very shortly regarding the postponement of next Tuesday's August medal competition so please keep a look out for that.

We also have away friendlies coming up next week on Monday at West Malling and on Thursday too, at Dulwich & Sydenham.

Entries for next Friday's Away Day at Chelsfield Lakes GC are now closed. We're still awaiting payment please from some entrants though - you know who you are! I'll be finalising teams and publishing further details early next week. (Having just typed this paragraph, I've just heard that following a drop out, a slot has now become available if anyone wishes to play. Please contact me a.s.a.p. if you fancy it!)

My Charity Dinner & Dance on Tuesday 16th August after the Dan Cameron Jug competition is well publicised now. Please, please attend this event if you can as it will be our only Vets Dinner this year. Details on the website and booking via the sheet on the Vets Notice Board where you can make your selections - only £29 per head, which includes a three course meal, plus music and dancing to "Idle Hands" (featuring our very own Vets; Geoff Webb and Mike Austin).

Finally, I have some Cherry Lodge Vets logo'd baseball caps now available to purchase - a good way to keep the sun off your head as well as looking good too! They are £12 each which includes a £2 donation to my charity. Please get in touch with me if you'd like one - first come first served.

See you soon at the club.

Kind Regards

Keith
