🏆Absent Friends Team Trophy🏆

12th May 2026

The Absent Friends Team Trophy was established over two decades ago by the wife of a former Vets Captain from the year 2000. She was clear in her vision that this competition should honour not just one individual, but all those who are no longer with us. The trophy itself is an elegant silver salver, engraved with the club name and 'Absent Friends Team Trophy - Veterans Section', a fitting tribute to those we remember. 'Absent Friends' were undoubtedly in the thoughts of many players throughout the day. 💭

The weather was pleasant if a little chilly ❄️, and the course was in excellent condition. Members were especially complimentary about the superb quality of the green surrounds. ⛳

Nineteen four-player teams took part in the competition, which was played from the 61 tees with the best three scores counting on each hole.

The winning team carded an impressive 122 points—claiming victory on countback after a thrilling tie at the top! Their names will be added to the beautiful silver salver alongside past champions. 🥇 The runners-up also posted 122 points in what proved to be an extremely tight contest 🥈, while third place went to a team with 121 points. 🥉

The winning team earns automatic qualification for next year's Masters competition, while the runners-up and third-place finishers secure their spots in the Heath Bowl—unless they qualify for the Masters through other means. 🎯

Sadly, the winning team weren't able to stay for the prize presentation, so we missed the opportunity for a celebratory winners' photo. 📸 However, we did manage to capture a photo of the inaugural winner of the Hurst Trophy, which you can view in the gallery. 🖼️
